It is certainly true that exercise is a vital part of being fit and healthy but it is not all there is to being fit and healthy. There is more to true fitness than simply going for a run or lifting some weights every morning. You need to be smart in every part of your life if you really want to get fit. As you get older and wiser you will realize that being physically fit and having a healthy lifestyle are very important. Think about it for a minute: how often do you think things like “I need to be healthier” during each day, week, month and year?

Thankfully you can do a few things today to start to increase your health and fitness. Here are a few tips and tricks that you can use to be healthier and more physically fit.

Work your entire body. Don’t listen to people who tell you that you only have to concentrate on the parts of your body that you want to improve. If you really want to get better your exercise routine needs to encompass your entire body and its systems. You’ll need to make sure to do cardio workouts, endurance training and strength training. If you really want your body to be healthy you need to work out all of your muscles. If you only work on a two or three muscles at a time you will only build up those muscles and feel bigger and bulkier than you did before.

You don’t have to spend hours and hours at the gym if you want a full workout. Spending time on the rowing machine or elliptical trainer will work your whole body. You can train and tone your entire body by spending only twenty minutes on one of these machines. Spending twenty minutes on one of these machines is the same thing as spending sixty minutes working out each of your major muscle systems separately. You will probably choose to use one of these machines to help you get fit because using these machines can save you hours of time spent training each day.

If you like doing a particularly athletic activity, join a group that does it as well. Dance classes are a great way to work out, burn calories and have fun (all at the same time). Take a water aerobics class. Take up hiking and rock climbing. These are all exercises that people find fun and increase one’s fitness level. You have a more likely chance of getting in shape if you like the exercise routine you do. If you can’t stand the fitness routine you do, you will start to make excuses to skip it. How productive will that be? Why not have some fun while you get in shape?

You need to realize that honest to goodness fitness is a whole body and whole mind idea.

There is more to true fitness than exercising a few times a week. Of course, it is better to work out a few times a week than it is to do nothing. A good way to get fit is to start small and slowly increase your workout routines over time. When you pair this will good food and better lifestyle choices you are well on your way to achieving total body fitness.

Your athletic shoes are laced and you have your favorite workout outfit on. Now what? You know aerobic exercise is essential to lose weight and keep it off, but does it matter what you do? Any type of movement is better than nothing, but certain activities are definitely more effective than others.

What you choose depends on your personal interest, schedule, and current fitness level. Yet, it’s best to select activities that cause you to support all or most of your own body weight. This challenges your body and helps to increase your metabolism, which causes you to burns more calories and ultimately lose more weight. Choosing the right activity also keeps you motivated to exercise, which helps you reap more physical benefits and progress from one activity level to the next. The good news: there’s a lot to choose from. Below is a breakdown of the most effective aerobic activities from a weight loss perspective. Each has their own advantages so odds are you’ll find several to your liking. It’s also best to perform more than one type of exercise every week. My advice: Choose two main activities that you perform regularly and a few alternate ones to mix in when your workouts feel routine, or if you can’t do your usual exercise.

Power WalkingThis is a convenient and easy aerobic exercise that everyone should begin with. The odds of injuring yourself are quite low, it’s convenient (you can perform it outside or on a treadmill) and can be highly aerobic if performed properly. JoggingIt’s a highly aerobic activity that can produce quicker weight loss results than walking. Jogging may not be ideal for beginners or those who are quite overweight or have heart problems. Check with your physician before you begin a jogging routine. As your fitness improves, though, it’s a wonderful step up from power walking.

Aerobic Dancing It seems that every week, gyms come out with some new low-impact aerobic dance class. Most are hybrids that mix dancing with sport movements like kickboxing, martial arts, and yoga, while others are old-fashioned “move to the groove” dancing. Best of all: Most are ideal for every fitness level.

Stair Climbing Slightly different that stair stepping, stair climbing is performed on actual stairs, like those found in your home on in a stadium. (No stairs around? Many gyms have re-introduced escalator-like machines that mimic traditional stair climbing.) You may have to build up your endurance to perform stair climbing continuously for a minimum of 10 minutes. Going up is harder than going down, but you should maintain the same intensity in both directions.

The following exercises are not quite as aerobic as those above, but still offer solid workouts.

Stair SteppingThis exercise requires the use of a stair-stepping machine; your legs move in an up-and-down motion like you’re climbing stairs, but without having to take actual steps. It’s an ideal alternative to stair climbing for those with pysical limitations or low fitness levels because it places less stress on the body.

Elliptical Exercise A combination between jogging and stair stepping, it’s a great replacement for those who have difficulty with weight-bearing exercises; it doesn’t overly stress muscles and joints. For an all-around workout, use an elliptical exercise machine that simultaneously moves both your arms and legs.

Incline trainerIncline trainers are hybrid machines that fall somewhere between stair stepping and walking. They look and act like a high-performance treadmill, but allow for up to a 50-percent incline for high calorie-burning in a shorter amount of time.

Spinning/CyclingAn exciting way to enjoy a group workout in a gym without having to worry about keeping up or following specific steps or routines. Just take a seat and start pedaling at your pace. Spinning is ideal for people of all fitness levels and those who have difficulty with full weight-bearing exercises. Want some fresh air and sun? Get the same workout with outside cycling–just make sure to keep your legs moving and keep the coasting to a minimum.

Indoor Rowing This fairly aerobic exercise, which is easy to learn, also conditions your arms and legs. It’s ideal for all fitness levels although people with back or neck ailments should steer clear.

2)High Quality Padding:-Another thing that impressed me about these Rawlings 1050 Workhorse Batting Gloves was the quality of the padding.  Some of the batting gloves I’ve used previously have left my hands and wrists feeling a little sore after games and caused blisters.  However, these Rawlings 1050 Workhorse Batting Gloves are really great shock absorbers and I really noticed the difference the Rawling’s Dura Plus Pad made. My hands feel perfect after games, even when the pitcher’s had a really strong throw.

Bad Points:

1) Stitching:-My only complaint with the Rawlings 1050 Workhorse Batting Gloves is that the stitching is not the best quality.  It’s not terrible and they haven’t fallen apart completely but some of the stitching has come loose a couple of times in the 6 months that I have owned the gloves and my wife has had to re-sew it.  Whilst having to re-sew them once every three months is not a massive issue, I did expect better quality stitching from these batting gloves.

Summary:

Performance wise, theseRawlings 1050 Workhorse Batting Gloves are excellent.  They give you maximum grip on the bat and do a really good job of protecting your hands.  The loose stitching is a little annoying but I can live with it since I’m not doing the stitching and they are relatively low priced.  However, if you want a batting glove that requires no re-stitching you may have to spend a little more cash and get a higher priced glove.

2) Good Fit:-Another great plus point of the Mizuno Prospect GPP901 Youth Baseball Glove is that it fits my kid’s hand perfectly.  I’ve found that a lot of baseball gloves aimed at young children are never small enough and then this has a negative impact on my kid’s ability to catch the ball.  With this glove he’s never been happier and his catching and confidence have improved no end.

Bad Points:

1) Stiff:- Overall I really liked the Mizuno Prospect GPP901 Youth Baseball Glove.  The only small criticism I had is that it’s a little stiff and difficult to close for very young children.  I have two boys – a 5 year old and a 3 year old.  I bought this glove for the 5 year old and he can close it no problems.  However, my 3 year old has tried it a couple of times and can’t really close the glove.

Summary:

I was really impressed with the quality of the materials used in the Mizuno Prospect GPP901 Youth Baseball Glove and I can see my kid outgrowing it rather than wearing it out which is the way it should be.  Functionally, it does everything it needs to and my kid tells me this is the best baseball glove he’s ever had.  If you’ve got really young children (3 or below) I would recommend looking around for baseball gloves that are a bit easier to close but if your kid is between 4 years and 6 years old and loves baseball then I recommend you get them this glove.

 2) Perform Well:-Another great thing about these Men’s Under ArmourHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms is that they perform extremely well.  I very rarely feel any moisture in the shorts, even if it’s an intense baseball game and I’m sweating buckets.  The anti-odor technology also works pretty well and I find that they don’t stink up my kit bag.  More importantly, I’ve experienced absolutely no chafing when wearing these compression shorts.  Some of the other compression shorts I’ve tried in the best have caused minor chafing so I’m really glad that these Men’s Under ArmourHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms are chafe free.

Bad Points:

1) Not Very Durable:-My only criticism of the Men’s Under ArmourHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms is that they aren’t very durable and normally last three months at the most before they rip.  When you consider that the cheapest pair of Men’s Under ArmourHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms costs $18.99 you can see how constantly replacing these shorts every three months can become a little pricy.

Summary:

In my opinion theseHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms are an essential piece of kit for anyone who plays baseball or participates regularly in any other type of physical activity.  Whether it’s team sports, running or the gym, you need to get a pair of these shorts.  Before I started playing baseball, I used to wear regular shorts for the gym and thought they were fine.  However, after starting to wear these HeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms for the gym the difference was instantly noticeable.  The fact that they have to be replaced regularly is annoying but even when you factor in the extra cost of buying new shorts I still highly recommend these Men’s Under ArmourHeatGear Long Compression Short Bottoms.

 2)Strong:-Another thing I really liked about the Macgregor Batting Tee is that it’s very strong.  I’ve given it a few whacks and my kids have given it a pretty intense beating in the six months that we’ve owned it but so far it’s showing minimal signs of wear and tear.  I’ve owned cheaper tees in the past that have fallen apart after just one strong mishit so I’m really impressed with the strength of this one.

Bad Points:

 1) Heavy:-There’s not a lot I didn’t like about the Macgregor Batting Tee.  The only small criticism is that it’s a little heavier than some of the other batting tees and this does make it a little more difficult to carry around.  However, the extra weight is needed to ensure that it’s stable and doesn’t topple over and it’s not so heavy that I can’t carry.  Overall the benefit of the added stability is far greater than the slight inconvenience that the extra weight causes when carrying it around.

Summary:

This Macgregor Batting Tee is a fantastic product and gives you everything you need from a batting tee.  It’s stable and never topples, no matter how bad you are at hitting.  It’s also extremely strong – if you’ve got kids they won’t be able to break this.  It is slightly heavier than some of the other batting tees on the market but this extra weight is necessary to prevent it from falling over.  All in all it’s one of the best batting tees I’ve tried and I would highly recommend it – especially if you’re looking for a batting tee that’s kidproof.

2)Quality Materials:-As I mentioned above, these baseballs are really good quality and the only cheap thing about them is the price.  The leather is durable and high quality, the stitching is top notch and these practice balls feel very similar to a real baseball whether you are batting or throwing.  I coach a kid’s baseball team and have been using these balls for the practice sessions for just over one year now and they are still showing no signs of wear and tear.  Very impressive.

Bad Points:

1) Wear Out Quickly When Wet:-I absolutely loved these Macgregor 79P Leather Practice Baseballs and honestly there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like about them.  However, when I review products I always try to find at least one negative to give the review balance so if I was really looking to poke holes in the product then I would say that they don’t respond well to water.  Whilst they generally hold up well I noticed that when they get wet this is not the case and they break down rather quickly.  However, the chances of this actually happening are very small.  As I said above, I’ve had these balls for just over one year and I think in the time I’ve been using them only two balls have ever been hit into a puddle.

Summary:

Overall these Macgregor 79P Leather Practice Baseballs are the bees knees.  Whether you are a baseball coach or you simply want a few practice balls to use in the back garden with your kids, these are perfect and at just over $2 a ball you can’t go wrong.  If you don’t have a set already get on Amazon right now and order some.  You won’t regret it.

They’re too light and I feel you benefit as a player in the long term by using either regular baseballs or leather practice baseballs (which are a very similar weight to the real thing).  This machine allows me to practice with my preferred type of ball and use them during my coaching too.

2)Portable:-Another thing I really liked about the Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Blue Flame Pitching Machine is that it’s extremely easy to move around.  I’m a baseball coach for a local kid’s team so I take it with me to practice every week.  I also set it up and pack it down in my back garden a few times each week so thatme and my kids can practice together.  Since it doesn’t require any electricity and it’s very lightweight, moving it around is a breeze.  Setting it up and packing it down is also very straightforward and probably takes me 10 minutes at the most.

Bad Points:

 1) Accuracy:-The only semi-negative I can think of when using the Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Blue Flame Pitching Machine is that it’s not that accurate.  The reason I said semi-negative is because I don’t personally see this as a problem but I know it might bother other people.  The pitching’s not massively inaccurate but it does go to a slightly different area each time.  I find this is beneficial because a real pitcher never throws to the same area each time so it is more realistic and it teaches the kid’s I coach to be more selective with their hits.  However, if you are expecting to get the pitches in the same place each time, the Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Blue Flame Pitching Machine is going to disappoint you.

Summary:

As a coach I love the Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Blue Flame Pitching Machine.  It’s easy to carry to practice, set up and pack down, it gives my arm a rest from pitching and it provides a really realistic simulation of pitching by allowing me to use leather baseballs and by throwing the ball in different places each time.  It gets a big thumbs up from me and I would highly recommend it to any baseball coach.
